Campus notes
After struggling- through two
long months of deep snow and
unprecedented winter weather,
Nisei students at U. B. C. are
enjoving the beautiful sunny
spring weather.
Fifteen Nisei students will go

were received from Japanese
Canadians here on the first day
that restrictions were lifted.
This was followed by three
more applications and also one
in New Westminster.
Amongst the applicants was
Buck Suzuki, a former sergeantmajor in the Canadian Army
who has been residing with his
family in Vancouver - for some
time awaiting the removal of
the fishing ban.
Others are expected to return
to fish but there is no indication
of any' large number of appli
cants. One Vancouver daily re
ported that between 275 and
300 is- the anticipated number of
Japanese Canadians who will
seek fishing licences in the next
two years.
Like other fishermen the Jap
anese Canadian applicants paid
the customary SI for the permit.
Some obtained more than one
licence as separate ones are re
quired for each specific fishing.
