Flyers Win Championship In THL T Group
In Two Straight, Drop Opener Of City Finals
Dave Yonemitsu and Ray Sora
were the toast of the Nisei Fly
ers (Arcade Grill) as Ray passed
and Dave knotted the tally,
breaking up a 2-2 tie and giv
ing the Flyers a championship
in the “B” group of the Juvenile
section of the THL. Now they
will wait for another “B” sec
tion winner and should they win,
the city title will be their prize.
Sora also came through with
the first goal of the game from
a corner pass-out to give Flyers
a 1-0 lead over Ossington Com
munity Centre and then Ed Hi
saki fired a screen shot just in
side the blue line that was de
flected into the net.
Coach Reggie Chipman must
have given his team a dressing
down as the Centres came out for
the second period and fought like
blazes to tie up the game. Fly
ers who seem to ease up when
the score reads in their favor,
saw theii* chances of wrapping
up the finals fading away.
Paul Nivens in the Flyers nets
saved the day when he lashed
out with his skates to save a shot
ticketed for a goal.
Then the
game winning play came with
four minutes left.

Flyers Drop Opener
Willow Snack Bar dampened
Eye championship aspirations of
the Flyers by coming from benind to win the first game of
tne best of three finals, 2-1.
Playing in the band-box Agin
court Arena and bothered with
mushy ice, the Arcade offense
logged down to a -walk and in
the last 10 minutes the play was
in their zone.
