Japan’s Sapporo Winter Olympics Is
Expected To Cost $25.5 Million
SAPPORO. — “Suppose they threw a Winter
Olympics and it didn’t snow’?”
“No such chance,” says the organizers of the
1972 Winter Olympics set for this northern Ja
panese city from February 3 to February 13 of ’72.
And so, they are pushing ahead with a construc
tion program which is expected to cost Japan
25.5 million dollars.
While many new constructions are being un
dertaken, others will involve extensive alteration

or reconstruction of existing facilities.
There will be .a total of 35 events at 14 sites
all of which will be situated within easy access of
the Olympic Village.
