VANCOUVER. — The University of British Columbia is plea
sed to inform the members of Japanese-Canadian Communities
that the Asian Studies Library has received a generous dona
tion of one thousand dollars for the Japanese Collection from
Mrs. Harue Mimoto of Vancouver, and her family.
For many years Mrs. Mimoto taught at the Japanese
Language School in Vancouver, and at other places. In comme
moration of the first anniversary of her husband Mr. Torasu Mi
moto’s passing,' Mrs. Mimoto and her family have decided to
assist the Asian Studies Library at U.B.C. Their gift will be
used to enrich the collection in the fields of Japanese Liteiature
and History. Consultation with Japanologists at the university
will assist us in selecting works which will be in keeping with
the spirit of the donors’ wishes.
On behalf of the university, I express my sincere appreciation for the thoughtfulness and generosity of Mrs. Harue
Mimoto and her family. We are also indebted to Mr. and Mrs.
Tsutae' .Sato, long-time friends of this library, for their assi
stance in arranging for this contribution.
