panese Canadian Cultural Centre is presently receiving applica
tions from students for the summer survey project. The commi
ttee will not know until the end of April, at the earliest, whether
the government grant has been received.
Meanwhile, the Survey Committee has met two times with
representatives of community organizations . to receive suggestions
for the questionnaire, to inform their "members of the impending
survey.

Centennial of 1977. During this year for the first time the whole
community turned out and participated but at the same time it
was noticed that"many members of the community were growin old, losing mobility, becoming housebound. -The centennial So
ciety set aside $2,500.00 and the Cultural Centre applied for" a
Federal Student Community Service Program Grant" of $10,000.00
to make a study of the Japanese community it its entirety —- not
just the Issei but also the Immigrants and the Nisei and the (San

•Of the $10,000.00 grant over $8,000.00 is set aside for the
salaries of the three students, the remainedr is for office expense
and computer rental.
- Volunteers are presently going through the Bell Telephone
Directory for Japanese names so. .as to arrive at as accurately as
possible a total for the community. If you know of any persons
। not in the Bell Tel. nor the Japanese community directory, plea
