Testimonial Dinner for Logans
TORONTO — The friends of Mr. & Mrs. David Logan have
arranged to honour Mr. Logan and his wife, Pamela, on the oc
casion of his appointment as a Federal Judge of Canada. The
function will be a dinner at the Prince Hotel, at 6:30 p.m. on
Saturday, March 13,1982. Special guests will be Mayor & Mrs.
J. Flynn, and the Hon. Eakins M.P.P. & Mrs. Eakins.
Mr. Logan has been the Mayor of Lindsay for terms, during
which he formed, together with Mr. Eakins, the. Lindsay-Nayoro
(Hokkaido) Twinning Committee. This Committee was instru
mental in building progressively friendlier relations between
Canada and Japan by the exchange of students every year.
Some years ago the Committee sponsored many youths from
Nayoro to study Canadian dairy and horticultural systems on
estate farms in the Peterboro/Lindsay area.
Mr. Logan also planned, in co-operation with the Town
Council, the creation of a Japanese style garden along the
banks of the Scugag River in Lindsay. Unfortunately, the site
selected was found to be a dumping area for waste and chem
ical refuse— used as such for many years.
The regional authorities would not grant permission for
the garden as the poisonous gases embedded in the ground
were a potential health hazard. The plan therfore had to be
shelved until another suitable site was found.
Mr. Logan is also involved in drafting the Constitution of
