J.C. opens Vancouver nightclub “Deja Vu
VANCOUVER, B.C. — Vancouver Nisei
entrepreneur, Denis. Shikatani recently
opened a new night-club here called “Deja
Vu”. Along with co-owner, Vancouver finan
cier, Mons Kapoor, Shikatani hopes to attract the kind of clientele that is “unaffected
by the current recession, namely the wellheeled.”
“It's a grown-up disco,” said Shikatani at
the recent opening. “We hope the club will
attract the 25-50 age group. People of means
with an income in excess of $25,000.”
The club design, with its plush grey and
brass decor is a copy of Cecil's, the numberone club in Palm Springs where Kapoor
spendsmost of his time (he also has a
home in Vancouver).
The music is taped; ranging from nostal-

gia (Mamas & the Papas, Supremes,Glenn
Miller) to uptempo, “adult contemporary”
rock.
Asked if he thought if the club would
make money, Shikatani replied: “I think
so... It's the old expression: ‘Give the
customers what they want.’”

Scientist previously had
thought that all lipoproteins
