TORONTO — The J.C. Cultural Centre will initiate a Senior
Daytime Program on Wednesdays commencing in April. Its
entire facilities will be made available for those desiring to
spend an enjoyable day at the Centre in the friendly com; pany of others.
With more Nisei reaching or approaching retirement age,
: the matter of instituting such a program was mentioned in
’ the Newsletter over a year ago. Since the Centre is hardly
j used during daylight hours on weekdays, it could not be put
• to a better use tl^an a gathering-place for those with time on
their hands who are seeking an informal, relaxed fellowship
that it could provide.
While it will likely take several weeks and meetings to plan
’ and organize the program, once it gets on track, the members
could easily take over to initiate and schedule their week- to-week activity. Ideas for program are endless — some of
it could be structured, while others would be informal and
impromptu. Indeed, several activities could be carried on
simultaneously. Some suggestions are: games (goh, cards),
entertainment (music, video), physical (exercise, dance), lec
tures (health, investment), creative (art, handicraft) or just
plain socializing.
Nor do they need to remain confined. When the weather is
