gan in the late 19th century, composed mainly of
labourers to work in coal mines, lumber camps,
railways and farms. Because of their industry,
perseverence and their ghetto style of existence
(forced mainly by the language barrier) Cauca­
sian hostility was fermented. Fueled by accusa­
tions of unfair competition, unassimilability,

From all indications today seems opportune for
the reparation issue. I take the liberty of giving
this short resume so that we might begin our

the second Pahamerican Nikkei Association Convention.

was drafted by the U.S. contingent of JACLers, is expect­
ed to be ratified here.
