One final comment. In an
enlightened society, such
chicanery can be perpetrated
but only once. It is beyond
the very pales of moral decen
cy, disastrously practised by
the likes of Marcos and Duva
lier. And where are they now?

YOUR
BLOOD
1946 to Fort Riley as part of
U.S. Army consolidation pro
gram.
A member of the SelfDefense Forces of Japan,
who was studying at Fort
Leavenworth, noticed the
graves in 1963 when he was
on a tour of Fort Riley. He
took a photograph of the
headstones and gave the
prints to the Japanese Mini
stry of Health and Welfare.
With Information supplied
by the U.S. Department of the
Army, the ministry was able
to identify the dead men's
families and confirm their
desire to have the remains
returned to Japan.
JUNCTION CITY, Kansas.
— The remains of three Japa
nese World War II prisoners
will be returned to their
homeland after more than 40
years in graves at the Fort
Riley U.S. Army post, autho
rities said.
The remains will be exhum
ed in a private ceremony at
the base before they are
cremated and returned to the
sailors' families in Japan.
The three men — all Japa
nese Navy crewmen on the
submarine Ro — were identi
fied as Kazunori Makino,
chief gunner's mate, Sadamu
Okada, private first class, and
Saburo Nakagawa, warrant
officer.
