exciting plans for a nation

since the 1977 JO Centennial.
This celebration has been en

Kobayashi has stated, would
constitute an opportunity for
all of us to come together
again. It would be a
stimulating and joyous occa
sion in which to reflect on our
community's achievements
and to lay plans for the future.
In his summary, Roger
Obata as National Vice-Presi

update on national communi

address concerned the current

the federal Ministry of Multi
culturalism, headed by the
Honorable Minister David
Crombie. The talks have been
informative and encouraging.
It was reported that should
Mr. Crombie keep to his pro
mises, a just and honorable
redress settlement for Japan
ese Canadians shall soon be
achieved. The next scheduled
meeting is slated for the end
of this month.
This afternoon's meeting
was chaired under the capable
direction of Ken Noma. A
final address was given by
the out-going president, Wes
Fujiwara. Dr. Fujiwara and his
wife Dr. Misao Yoneyama,
will be retiring this year from
medical practice. Both will be
sorely missed.
At the close of the session
there was shared emotion
felt as Wes Fujiwara was
honored for his community
contributions. Dr. Fujiwara
was visibly moved by the
award presentation and all
the members and supporters
attending appreciated this
timely salute to a gentle man
whose integrity, dedication
and care will continue to in
spire us all.

measurable value of human
