April 1st. York region police are investigating the slaying.
Masuko was president of Masuko International Inc., an im
porter and exporter of plastic goods.
His wife found his body at about 9.40 p.m., sprawled on
the floor of his office on Alex Ave. in Woodbridge. She had
gone looking for him when he failed to return home and didn 't
answer her telephone calls.
Masuko, who lived on Cranberry Lane in King City, was
dead on arrival at York-Finch Hospital. Police say he had been
shot in the chest.
Police say they have no suspects in the case and have not
yet determined any motive for the slaying.

THE NEW CANADIAN
1st floating building
planned in Japan
TOKYO. — the Transport
Ministry unveiled a plan to
construct Japan's first
floating buildings in the Bay
of Nagasaki, Kyushu.
Under the plan, two or
three 40-meter-high (132-foot)
12-story buildings will be
built on a steel box measur
ing 100 meters wide, 100 me
ters deep and 10 meters high,
employing shipbuilding tech
nologies used in off-shore oil
rigs.
The buildings will house a
hotel, convention hall, shopp
ing plaza and offices. The
island will be linked to the
mainland by a floating bridge.
A one-year feasibility study
will be launched shortly in
volving Mitsubishi Heavy In
dustries, Ltd., and All Nippon
Airways. The project will be
carried out by a joint orgainzation of the private sector
and the government.
The.total cost for the pro. ject is estimated at some 20
billion yen ($130.24 million)
and will be completed by .

display the singer's diversified talents, she said. She call
ed her late husband a “renaissance man.”
