Miyamoto
Musashi
By VIC OGURA
(Montreal)
As a group, the 47 ronin have
always been my heroes. As an in
dividual, Miyamoto Musashi is my
top hero.
The other night, after the family
had gone to bed, I again watched part
of the movie “Miyamoto Musashi.”
There is one episode where, like the
movie The Seven Samurai, a village is
pillaged, and the women abused.
Musashi comes upon the scene and
kills the four villains who are taun
ting the women.
“What are you doing! What have
you don!” some of the men vocifer
ously protest. “Sure, the village is
plundered, sure the women are
raped, but at least they let us survive!
Now look at what you have done . ..

They will return and punish us all!”
Musashi responds, “where is your
