OTTAWA. — At the recent impressive rally on Parliament
Hill in Ottawa, of over 400 eager participants, which packed
the Confederation Room to overflowing, the bright yellow
post cards were prominently displayed before the podium in
four mail bags, spilling out on to the floor. It is estimated that
over 14,000 post cards had been collected to show the media
and the government the significance of the support for
Redress from Canadians all across Canada.

Majority Leader
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The
recent announcement by Sen
ate Majority Leader Robert
Byrd (D-W.Va.) that he would
step down from the post he
has held for over a decade
has cleared the way for a
three-way race for the spot.
Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii)
is currently the favorite to
take over the position, with
Sens. J. Bennett Johnston (DLa.) and George Mitchell (DMaine) also interested in pro
curing the title.
Inouye claims that he al

least 20 colleagues, just nine
short of the expected 29
senators needed to win the
balloting, likely be held in
November after the general
election.
Inouye currently
holds the third-ranking lea

Senate Democratic Caucus.
