Our next move was to a St. Vital

Gradually life improved for us.
Even when all restrictions were fin
ally lifted in 1949 we decided to make
our home in Manitoba, since there
was nothing left for us on the West
Coast to go back to.
It was a nightmare for us but even
more so for our Issei parents, who
from the start endured hardships,
were humiliated and discriminated
against. They suffered to an extent
that's unbelievable but they had
courage and took pride in what they
accomplished. They paved the future
for us who followed. They wanted us
to be proud of our cultural heritage. I
hope their legacy and our legacy to
all, will be a Canada where one will
never have to suffer such an injustice
ever again.

cabinet member Seisuke Ok

Japan has been singled out
as the sole aggressor in World
War II, according to the latest
issue of Newsweek maga

In an interview with the
magazine, he also called
such allegations from China
and the United States unac

Commenting on the Marco

which is said to have sparked
the war, Kamei said that
Japan did not intend China,
but rather planned to defend
the Asian people from the
white race.

By David Suzuki withEileen
Thalenberg and Peter
Knudston.
It’s too early to speak of any
book as the definitive work
on AIDS: we are still in the
early days of exploring the
dread epidemic. But this 96page volume is as good a
map as one can find of the
territory explored to date.
Based on a program in David
Suzuki's award-winning "The
Nature of Things" CBC
television series, this is a
sound basic reference for the
general reader which lays to
rest some of the scariest
myths and clarifies the real
dangers.
Dr Suzuki and his
associates trace the history of
AIDS, demonstrating how it
differs from epidemics of the
past and why it poses-such a
puzzle to those who would
control it. They describe the
process which occurs within
the cells of the human body
which has made AIDS such a
deadly puzzle for medical
researchers. While the
scientific world has been
swift to examine the
implications of the disease
and researchers are hard at
work in laboratories in many
countries, no cures are yet in
sight.
In the meantime, the
authors clearly prescribe
exactly what we must do to
avoid contracting the AIDS
virus,
