while Japanese foods have
become very popular in Amer
ica, not many have ventured
into the realm of the natto.
I mean, if Americans are
going to put shoyu on rice,
why natto?
Sure, it has a nasty smell to
it but as far as I'm concern
ed, it's the smell which
makes it so tasty.
In pre-war days, my mother
used to make natto at home
and all of us were sort of
weaned on it.
When I first introduced it to
my kids most of them said it
smelled like s—.
Today, however, most of
them enjoy it as much as I did
when I was growing up.
Heck, takuwan has a rather
strong smell to it, although
not as bad as natto but a lot
. of Americans have started to
eat takuwan in recent times.

while Japanese foods have
become very popular in Amer
ica, not many have ventured
into the realm of the natto.
I mean, if Americans are
going to put shoyu on rice,
why natto?
Sure, it has a nasty smell to
it but as far as I'm concern
ed, it's the smell which
makes it so tasty.
In pre-war days, my mother
used to make natto at home
and all of us were sort of
weaned on it.
When I first introduced it to
my kids most of them said it
smelled like s—.
Today, however, most of
them enjoy it as much as I did
when I was growing up.
Heck, takuwan has a rather
strong smell to it, although
not as bad as natto but a lot
. of Americans have started to
eat takuwan in recent times.
